Continuing their pioneering work in “live cinema,” Sandra Gibson and Luis Recorder’s (Performa 09) newest collaborative work Wave Currents explores the combination of sound and the moving image within the medium of performance. Gibson and Recorder’s elegant use of film projectors and simple mechanical means will animate Philadelphia’s International House with dynamic abstract light sculptures and the critically acclaimed music of composer Olivia Block. This piece will generate a sensuous space for the viewer in which the mind and body will be immersed in the rhythmic ebb and flow of rays of light and waves of sound.
